The Behrens Law Firm, LLC concentrates its practice in sophisticated family law cases, including complex contested divorce litigation, custody disputes, modifications to decree, paternity, domestic violence, and marital and premarital settlement agreements.
I strive to achieve the best possible result for my clients and their children.. I pride myself in knowing each of my clients personally and getting fully involved. A client is never passed on to an associate in the firm, as happens in other offices.
Each case is different, with different needs and problems. My focus is on assessing risks to my client and finding solutions, hopefully without the cost of going to trial, although such a course may mean reducing legal fees significantly.

Ms. Behrens graduated in the top of her class at Stanford University and went on to get her law degree at the prestigious UCLA School of Law.
She limits her practice to Family Law and has experience in complex and highly contested divorce actions involving high assets and child custody. She is experienced in fighting and winning against aggressive opposition and “dirty” tactics.
Ms. Behrens has been practicing law for over 30 years and is a former prosecutor. She has tried over 40 trials before juries and hundreds of trials before judges.
Barbara Behrens practices family law in St. Louis, Missouri. She is
admitted to the bar in California, Illinois and Missouri.
A graduate of Stanford University and UCLA Law School, she grew up in St. Louis before moving to California to attend Stanford. While at UCLA she interned in the Los
Anglos Child Abuse Division for 6 months. After graduating law school
she joined the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, where she
was a criminal prosecutor for 3 years. During much of this time she served in Juvenile
She returned to St. Louis from Riverside, California and has
practiced in Illinois and Missouri ever since.
Ms. Behrens is a family law attorney and guardian ad litem, i.e.
an attorney appointed by the court to represent minors in divorce and
juvenile and child abuse settings.
She is a past Board of Directors President of St. Martha’s Hall, which operates the largest shelters for abused women and children in the City and in the County of St. Louis.
